Fisher Body Craftsmans Guild Styling Award

No, this is not a new prize, but in 1958 Norbert won a scholarship that helped fuel his career as an artist. This national prize of General Motors Fisher Body division was awarded between the 1930-1960's to encourage talented teenagers to enter the field of automotive design. After winning this award Norbert used the $1000 prize money to attend Art Center College of Design in Pasadena California. "It gave me a direction when I really didn't know how to get where I wanted to go" Norbert recalls. "I was surprised to get the word I had won." He had attempted to create car models for entry two times prior and he said "I really didn't think I would win. It was the only trophy I had ever won. The scholarship was my start and covered my first year of classes. It was an opportunity that I highly valued; the opportunity to design, style and sculpt automobiles."
